Overvieew of our programs

STOYAC Basketball offers two programs: Travel and Recreational.

The Travel program competes in the MetroWest League, which includes more than 1,000 teams from communities across Eastern Massachusetts. Teams in grades 4–8 are grouped by grade and gender, then placed in skill-based divisions—A, B, C, or 1–6—to support balanced competition. Tryout registration is required and includes a refundable $25 fee.

The Recreational program has five grade-based divisions:

Instructional: A coed program for children in kindergarten through grade 2 that teaches basketball fundamentals. Sessions are held on Saturdays in the OMS back gym, with scrimmages near the end of the season. There are no games or weekday practices.

Peewees: Grades 3–4

Juniors: Grades 5–6

Seniors: Grades 7–8

Graduates: High school players in grades 9–12. This division has no weekday practices and plays two games each Saturday.

If there is enough interest, a girls-only division will be created; otherwise, girls may join a coed division.

Registration runs from September through mid-October. Evaluations are held the Saturday after registration closes, followed by several weekday practices before the season starts. Because coaches typically use evaluation results to draft teams, attendance is important. Games begin on the first Saturday in December and continue through mid-March, concluding with Championship Saturday. Practice days vary, but time slots are generally consistent, running from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Younger players are scheduled earlier and older players later, depending on the number of teams.
